First off, thank you for thinking about Hope Thrift Center. We hope that you can think of us as your first thought when donating your gently used items! Each and every donation to the Hope Thrift Center helps us raise money for several good causes, and although we appreciate all of the support we can get, there are some items Hope Thrift Center cannot accept.
We understand that it can be frustrating to bring your donated furniture, TV, piano, or other goods only to discover that we cannot accept the items. Please understand we are not trying to ruin your day. We have some strict federal guidelines that all resellers must follow. We are subject to having federal inspectors stop by to make sure we aren't selling donated items that are hazardous, have been recalled, or violate a long list of other government rules concerning the reselling of used goods.
Here are some of the most common items that we must turn away: Tube, console, and projection TVs Older Entertainment Centers and TV Armoires Appliances older than 10 years and built-in appliances Furniture with rips, broken pieces, stains, odors, or excessive pet hair Pianos exercise equipment
Unfortunately, if our store accepts donations that we are not allowed to sell, we are forced to pay for its disposal. This can quickly eat into the store's profits and hurt our overall goal of helping children around the world.
However, the list of accepted goods is much larger. If you have any further questions please feel free to give us a call at the store!
Schedule a Pick up
The Hope Thrift Center offers item pickup within a 30 minute drive from our Springfield location. All items should be bagged or boxed, and furniture should be clean and damage-free and still be in a resellable condition. All items should be placed in a garage or other easy-to-access location for pickup. Hope Thrift Center will now do pickups two or three times a week if demand is high enough.
We offer pickups on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday's from 11 am - 3 pm. Please call in advance to arrange a date for us to come by. Since we are a smaller operation (only one truck for now) we would ask that you give us a one week notice.
We are also happy to arrange post-garage sale pickups on Saturdays.
